COEL Researchers Presented at ICCE 2026 in Galveston, Texas
The Coastal and Ocean Engineering Laboratory (COEL) at Hanyang University participated in the COPRI – Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute 39th International Conference on Coastal Engineering (ICCE 2026), held in Galveston, Texas.
Several members of our laboratory presented their latest research and shared insights on coastal engineering and ocean-related topics:

🌊 Dr. Hai Van Dang, PhD: Physical and Numerical Modeling of Wave Attenuation on Mangrove Forest
🌊 Suchan Joo: Laboratory Study on Scale Effects in Mangrove-induced Wave Attenuation — Recipient of the 2026 ICCE Outstanding Student Abstract Award
🌊 Myeongjin Lee: Long-Period Wave and Tsunami Detection Techniques Using IMU and RTK-GPS Sensors
🌊 Sangyeop Lee: Digital Twin for Tsunami Early Warning and Coastal Flood Risk Management
In addition to presenting his research, Prof. Sungwon Shin served as the Moderator for the Coastal Hydrodynamics and Morphology session, contributing to scientific discussions throughout the conference.
ICCE 2026 provided a valuable opportunity for COEL researchers to present their work, exchange knowledge, and connect with researchers and experts from around the world in the field of coastal and ocean engineering.
