At the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society Annual Meeting 2026 (AOGS2026), members of the Coastal and Ocean Engineering Laboratory (COEL), Hanyang University ERICA, presented their latest research in the Ocean Sciences (OS).

In addition to presenting his research, Dr. Hai Van Dang also contributed to AOGS2026 as a Session Chair for an Ocean Sciences session.

The Coastal and Ocean Engineering Laboratory (COEL), Hanyang University ERICA, was pleased to participate in the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society Annual Meeting 2026 (AOGS2026), held in Fukuoka, Japan, from 2–7 August 2026.

Together with Professor Sungwon Shin, COEL members attended the conference and had the opportunity to present our research, exchange ideas with researchers from around the world, and engage in meaningful discussions on coastal and ocean sciences.

AOGS2026 was a valuable opportunity to gain new perspectives, strengthen international connections, and explore potential collaborations within the science community.

We are grateful for this opportunity and look forward to bringing these experiences and insights back to COEL 🌊

The Coastal and Ocean Engineering Laboratory (COEL) of Hanyang University is pleased to welcome our new internship student from France, Sacha Palazy, who joins us for a two-month research term (July-August 2026).

During his time at our laboratory, Sacha will collaborate with our research team on advanced projects within coastal engineering and tsunami studies, contributing fresh perspectives to our ongoing initiatives.

International academic exchanges play a vital role in broadening our research scope and fostering global scientific collaboration. We look forward to a productive two months ahead!

COEL was honored to participate in the 2026 Invited Workshop for Port Experts on Safe Ports in Response to Climate Change, held in Seoul from July 1 to 3, 2026.

Organized under the ASEAN Maritime Transport Working Group (MTWG) framework, the event was hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of Korea and the Korea Cooperative Supporting Center for Overseas Port Development (KCSC) to foster international collaboration on safeguarding critical maritime infrastructure.

Prof. Sungwon Shin was invited to deliver a key lecture titled "Nature-Based Solutions and Hybrid Approaches for Climate-Resilient Port Design."

During the session, Prof. Shin shared our lab’s latest research on integrating eco-friendly, nature-based infrastructure with traditional coastal engineering. He highlighted how hybrid approaches can effectively absorb wave energy, adapt to rising sea levels, and provide robust, long-term protection for modern port facilities.
